Police have arrested two people alleged to have used a drone to fly illicit drugs into a prison.

Investigations began in March after a milk carton, allegedly stuffed with illegal drugs and nicotine patches, was uncovered by authorities in a Truganina corrections facility in Melbourne's west.
Police searched two Melbourne homes on July 13 and allegedly found a drone, 7.2 grams of heroin and meth, a sword and a selection of fake IDs and mobile phones.
Detective inspector Patrick Watkinson said "those who attempt to breach the security of our prisons, we will work hard to ensure that you face becoming a resident and not a guest at one of the facilities".
The maximum penalty for trafficking items in or out of a corrections facility is two years in prison, police said.
A 39-year-old Mount Waverley man was charged with multiple crimes including drug trafficking and possession, smuggling goods into a prison, handling stolen goods and failing to answer bail.

He was scheduled to appear at Ringwood Magistrates' Court on July 17.
A 31-year-old Brunswick West woman was charged with drug trafficking and possession and smuggling goods into a prison.
She was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on October 26.
